Power Arrows – How the Mind Feels Speed
Most golfers try to swing the club.
Better players don’t.
They direct it.
The Problem — Power Without Direction
In the golf swing, power is not just something you add.
It’s something you direct.
And that direction is a combination of:
- Your release style
- Your athletic intention
If those don’t match, the swing breaks.
If they do, the swing starts to organize itself.
What Are Power Arrows?
Power Arrows is simply how the mind understands the swing.
Not positions.
Not checkpoints.
Not mechanics.
👉 Direction
Where is the energy going?
When is it applied?
What is it trying to do?
This is what the brain can actually deal with.
The Most Common Mistake
Most golfers do this:
👉 They send all their energy straight at the target
It feels logical.
But it creates:
- Over-the-top motion
- Loss of the pendulum
- Weak, glancing strikes
You’ve killed the engine before it even has a chance to work.
Fixing It — Direction Before Mechanics
When you change the direction of intent, everything changes.
Instead of:
👉 chasing the target
You start:
👉 directing the motion
Now:
- The downswing can come from the inside
- The club can release more naturally
- Speed builds without forcing it
Different Patterns — Different Arrows
There isn’t one correct arrow.
There are different power directions depending on the pattern.
Big Arc Swinger
- Clear downswing direction in basically the opposite direction of the target.
- Builds speed from the inside
- Can be layered with additional feels for control
Trail Power Hitter
- First arrow → unleash the club
- Second arrow → control and stabilize the blade
Backside Chop & Push
- First arrow → backside release entry
- Second arrow → target-directed push (Trevino style)
Different looks.
Same principle:
👉 Power is directional
When It Clicks
Once you find a pattern that fits you:
- Power stops feeling forced
- Speed becomes easier to access
- The swing becomes more repeatable
It starts to feel like:
👉 directional energy
And that’s something the mind can actually work with.
Final Thought
You don’t need more swing thoughts.
You need better direction.
Pick a pattern.
Apply the right arrows.
Let the motion follow.
