Low Hands In Golf Relationship to Lie Angles, Power and Accuracy
Having your hands relatively lower at impact is a major success factor for reliant and efficient golf.
It’s influenced by your equipment and overall swing release intentions.
Low Hands & Lie Angles – Fitting or Not?
So are you supposed to be fitted to your clubs or not? If you fit yourself to your existing swing and wish to change your swing you’ve probably locked yourself into your pattern.
After performing 7 major swing change (5 successes and 2 fails) I can just say this. Your equipment needs to match what you wish your swing change end result to be.
Or let’s put it this way. If I want low hands I better get myself flat golf clubs to fit this because it’s not a joke how much we are react to our equipment. The last 5 years I’ve played 4 degrees flat clubs and there’s not a chance in h*ll that I would have developed as much without this.
Take one good old forged club and bend it down 3-4 degrees and test it out yourself. It costs 10 bucks.
Low Hands = Centripetal Strong Position = Centrifugal Force = Power
If the outer parts of the swing arc is the placeholder for centrifugal force outlet then the inside of the circle is the more centripetal counter part to it.
Having low hands at impact will in itself unleash more centrifugal force due to it’s slightly more centripetal position. Makes sense right?
But the even cooler thing is this: If you actually use flatter clubs you will start to “wish” to have low hands and this wish will passively stimulate you to achieve lower grip pressure. Grip pressure, and lowering it in the downswing, is the biggest contributor of centrifugal force that I know.
Low Hands = Lie Angle Matching = Less Club Rotation = Accuracy
Finally. The low hands in combination with flat lie angles creates a more steady/”controlled” club rotation through the impact area. Obviously your swing technique is the major factor for blade control but flat lie angles and low hands will aid you in your quest to eradicate that snap hook out of your arsenal.
I write all of this from experience and nothing else. Overall I want equipment that makes it easier to perform my motion and create as much power and accuracy as possible.
