I want my golf swing to create impact by itself — almost like clipping the grass, and the ball just happens to get in the way.

It becomes Incidental Striking.

If the strike is a passive byproduct event, then the club can move the way it’s supposed to, instead of being forced through some unnatural control effort.

This concept shouldn’t be underestimated — most golfers suffer from the influence of too much control. I’ve seen clear evidence from experimentation that repeatability comes from completion and leavings the strike to its destiny.

Think of the strike as incidental, and you’ll let your natural athleticism work for you — not against you. Even better, train your athleticism old-school style, and make your golf life a whole lot simpler.
