A SAFE SHOT in Golf? Transform your swing to a TACTICAL TOOL

Knowing a lot about golf mechanics has allowed me to develop what I call the SAFE SHOT SWING.

It’s essentially about sacrificing power for control — for those moments when you really need it.

By strangling the natural release of the golf club I kind of “control the club rotation beast” if you will. In my normal swing I induce this release and guide the power but this demands a follow through feeling. In this swing I just step out of this dynamic to intentionally deliver a less mechanicall efficient golf swing.

The benefit? It’s super simple to perform. And it fits with tense situations since you can have high grip pressure and tension whilst performing it.

This isn’t a swing I use for an entire round. It’s a go-to shot I pull out of the bag when the situation calls for stability over speed.

The key is to move with the feeling of a huge triangle throughout the entire motion — and make that your only focus. It feels like you’re holding onto the club a bit more, which intentionally limits the release. That tight, controlled sensation pairs perfectly with those moments when you’re feeling less than loose.

For context. I use it maybe 1-3 times per round and the rest is performed with a much more efficient power dynamic. Completely inspired by the old school fundamentals.
